Pulse propagation in Er3+-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) is studied within the framework of a spectrally-resolved pulse rate-propagation equations model. Calculated pulse spectrograms demonstrate the effects of dispersion on sub-picosecond pulse propagation in EDFAs. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
