Abstract
“In 2003, the Police Federation of England and Wales commissioned me to assist on a large scale survey of the working conditions of Police Inspectors. This work led to a series of further research studies, focusing on work-life balance and well being across the ranks. Most recently, I have published a paper, together with a former MSc student, which focuses on behaviours which are effective for managing work-life balance in the policing context. I will present this research, bringing to life the challenges which police officers and staff face on a day to day basis, and conclude with suggestions for further research.”
