This portfolio is presented in three parts, an academic dossier, professional dossier and research dossier. The Clinical Psychology of health, specifically reproductive health, is a theme common to the academic and research dossiers. Two critical reviews, one of the literature on vaginismus and dyspareunia and the other of the literature on 'postnatal depression' in men, form the academic dossier. Each review represents an attempt to integrate the empirically robust findings of two related fields and offers recommendations for therapeutic practice and future research. The main body of the professional dossier is an account of the design, implementation and audit of an appraisal scheme for Trainee Clinical Psychologists. This describes work undertaken as part of my current role, Clinical Tutor for a Clinical Psychology Training Course. A brief curriculum vitae forms the second part of this dossier. It describes my professional experience and development since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist. The research dossier is also in two parts. The first of these is an account of a grounded theory study of the psychological process of vasectomy. The represents recent work undertaken as part of the Clinical Psychology Conversion Course. The second part describes a quantitative behavioural observation study of the social interactions between staff and residents on a long stay hospital ward for older adults. This thesis was submitted as part of the British Psychological Society Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology, awarded in 1985, and is included for information only.
