Abstract

The polygon meshes represented by several triangles are applied to implement the physical optics (PO) approximation method. The polygon meshes can now be easily generated by the intrinsic function of MATLAB. "Polygon Meshed PO" method was implemented and examined for modeling the scattering characteristics from 3D objects. Using Polygon Meshed PO, the calculation of the induced current and the scattered field can be systematically simplified by summing the contribution on each triangle. Furthermore, the parametric study and the analytical solutions including integral equation (IE) techniques were introduced in order to evaluate the performance of this method.
