This report is the first Annual Market Intelligence Report (AMIR) produced by TCRC. Since 2005, TCRC has produced Quarterly Market Intelligence Report (QMIR). These reports provided estimated meal numbers on board based on forecasted passenger numbers. Due to changes in the way in which some data is reported, it was no longer possible to produce reports quarterly, hence the development of this annual report. Past reports and other TCRC Publications could be accessed online at http://epubs.surrey.ac.uk/travelcatering/.
AMIR 2009 is in two sections. The first section includes discussion of the current situation and showcases some related headlines. The second section is estimates of passenger number and meal numbers divided further into four main areas: • Europe • The Americas • Asia and Middle East • The World
The main source of data for this report is the Top 50 IATA Airlines in 2008 based on passenger numbers. These airlines represent 92.47% of the total worldwide passengers carried in 2008. Further information on sources and methodology are presented in the report.
